Ce coup\u00e9 biplace con\u00e7u par Giorgetto Giugiaro incarnait une toute nouvelle interpr\u00e9tation du concept de gran turismo et son nom \u00e9voquait un vent puissant, une tradition qui se poursuit encore aujourd&rsquo;hui avec le Grecale, le mod\u00e8le de la nouvelle \u00e8re de la marque au Trident.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Le Ghibli est un vent sec et chaud de l&rsquo;Afrique du Nord qui transporte avec lui beaucoup de sable. Le choix du nom de ce vent donn\u00e9 \u00e0 la berlinette de 1966 n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas le fruit du hasard : il rendait hommage \u00e0 la vitesse de la voiture et au c\u00f4t\u00e9 \u00ab torride \u00bb de ses caract\u00e9ristiques techniques et stylistiques.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66083\" src=\"https:\/\/coolbrandz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Maserati-Ghibli-1966-Anniversary.jpg\" alt=\"Maserati Ghibli 1966 Anniversary\" width=\"875\" height=\"492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coolbrandz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Maserati-Ghibli-1966-Anniversary.jpg 875w, https:\/\/coolbrandz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Maserati-Ghibli-1966-Anniversary-480x270.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 875px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Avec la Ghibli, Maserati proposait une voiture \u00e0 l&rsquo;allure sportive mais sans ostentation : le moteur \u00e9tait de conception nouvelle, bas\u00e9 sur l&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre 8 cylindres utilis\u00e9 pour la Mexico. Il pouvait d\u00e9livrer une puissance de 330 ch dans la version de 4\u2019700 cm3, et \u00e9tait compl\u00e9t\u00e9 par une version encore plus puissante de 4\u2019900 cm3.<\/p>\n<p>La ligne basse du capot qui exaltait son style avait \u00e9t\u00e9 obtenue en installant un carter sec (une solution utilis\u00e9e uniquement en comp\u00e9tition) mont\u00e9 tr\u00e8s bas sur le ch\u00e2ssis tubulaire. Cette solution conf\u00e9rait \u00e0 la voiture son allure affirm\u00e9e et \u00e9lanc\u00e9e, l&rsquo;un des \u00e9l\u00e9ments \u00e0 l\u2019origine de son succ\u00e8s.<\/p>\n<p>La conception de ce mod\u00e8le avait \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9e \u00e0 Ghia, qui comptait \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque Giorgetto Giugiaro au sein de son \u00e9quipe de cr\u00e9ation. L&rsquo;apport stylistique le plus significatif, qui repr\u00e9senta un \u00e9l\u00e9ment de rupture par rapport aux mod\u00e8les ayant pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 la Ghibli, fut l&rsquo;int\u00e9gration des volumes. En effet, dans la Ghibli, il n&rsquo;existe pas de distinction entre la carrosserie de la voiture et l&rsquo;habitacle, qui ne sont ni s\u00e9par\u00e9s ni superpos\u00e9s, mais r\u00e9unis en une seule surface. Alors que les lignes pouvaient \u00eatre trop g\u00e9om\u00e9triques et tendues, Giugiaro fit en sorte que la sensation de rigidit\u00e9 puisse \u00eatre att\u00e9nu\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>La nouveaut\u00e9 stylistique la plus \u00e9vidente \u00e9tait l&rsquo;avant, r\u00e9solument original pour une Maserati : les phares \u00e9taient occultables et la calandre tr\u00e8s fine occupait toute la partie ant\u00e9rieure. Le logo du Trident restait au centre, mais avec des dimensions plus r\u00e9duites par rapport aux autres mod\u00e8les du constructeur.<\/p>\n<p>La silhouette mettait en valeur la ligne \u00e9lanc\u00e9e de la Ghibli : un capot long et bas, un pare-brise fortement inclin\u00e9, des proportions parfaites sans d\u00e9coration superflue. La section arri\u00e8re triangulaire affirmait sa propre son identit\u00e9, devenant un composant iconique repris plus tard dans d&rsquo;autres mod\u00e8les \u00e0 succ\u00e8s de la marque au Trident.<\/p>\n<p>Les changements par rapport au pass\u00e9 \u00e9taient \u00e9galement visibles dans la conception de l\u2019habitacle, o\u00f9 les instruments \u00e9taient int\u00e9gr\u00e9s dans un design global qui pr\u00e9valait sur les composants individuels.<\/p>\n<p>Le r\u00e9sultat ? L&rsquo;ann\u00e9e suivante, son int\u00e9rieur fut redessin\u00e9 et elle pouvait \u00e9galement \u00eatre \u00e9quip\u00e9e sur demande d&rsquo;une transmission automatique, ou bien d&rsquo;une bo\u00eete de vitesses manuelle \u00e0 5 rapports. \u00c0 partir de 1969, la version Spyder devint \u00e9galement disponible, avec l\u2019ajout d\u2019un toit rigide sur demande ; un an plus tard, les deux mod\u00e8les furent \u00e9galement propos\u00e9s avec un moteur de 4\u2019900 cc. Dans cette configuration d\u00e9nomm\u00e9e Ghibli SS, la voiture renfor\u00e7ait encore plus sa solide position sur le march\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Au total, entre 1967 et 1972, 128 Ghibli Spyder et plus de 1 200 Ghibli coup\u00e9 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 produite : l&rsquo;une d&rsquo;entre elles fut m\u00eame achet\u00e9 par Henry Ford (le petit-fils du fondateur du constructeur am\u00e9ricain), qui d\u00e9cida de l\u2019exposer dans le hall du Ford Product Development Center \u00e0 Detroit, afin d\u2019en faire un exemple \u00e0 suivre et une source d&rsquo;inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Une source d\u2019inspiration qui n&rsquo;a jamais cess\u00e9 d\u2019\u00eatre au sein de la marque au Trident : la Ghibli a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une voiture iconique. C\u2019est donc tout naturellement que Maserati a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de reprendre en 2013 le nom Ghibli pour sa nouvelle berline sportive.
